Culture of memory and heritage with wagner Lugnov of Central Galeria De Arte Brazil at Artissima 2015

8 November 2015

As of last year, Associação Brasileira de Arte Contemporânea (ABACT) has appointed their new President – Wagner Lungov. ABACT includes 50 galleries located in 6 states in Brazil, representing more than 1,000 contemporary artists. With their mission focused on expansion of cultural exchange and promotion of the art market in Brazil, the non-profit organization aims to widen the base of collectors in the country.

ABACT President and the director and owner of Galeria Central in São Paulo, Wagner Lungov, made an appearance at this year’s Artissima art fair. It was Galeria Central De Arte Brazil’s first time at Artissima, and our senior editor Bojan Maric had the opportunity to talk with Wagner Lungov about their impressions, the represented artists and the public response. To find out more about the represented artists and CENTRAL Galeria de Arte, visit their website at centralgaleriadearte.com.

Galeria Central De Arte Brazil Introduces Nino Cais and José Rufino at Artissima 2015

Two artists represented by Galeria Central De Arte Brazil are dealing with the concept of memory in a different way. From playful personal memorabilia connected to home to more grim memories focusing on the darker side of dictatorship, violence and censorship in the society of Brazil. With their backgrounds coming from a turmoil-stained country, both artists have the heritage of Brazil incorporated in their art.
