Artissima 2021: all the prizes

13 October 2021 Awarding

Constantly searching for beauty and recognized for its continuous tension towards innovation and experimentation, Artissima 2021 confirms its mission of discovery and rediscovery of talents by awarding 10 important prizes, celebrated again live during the fair days. Conceived in collaboration with sponsors and institutions, the prizes are assigned to participating artists and galleries by international juries composed of curators and directors of the world’s leading contemporary art museums.

lly Present Future Prize

The prize, realized in collaboration with illycaffè and now in its 21st edition, is assigned to an artist of the Present Future section – since always a launching pad for new talents – and confirms itself as an important contribution to the success of emerging artists at international level.

FPT for Sustainable Art Award

Sustainability, art and innovation are the key words to describe this prize born from the collaboration with FPT Industrial, in 2021 at its second edition. This year the award will be assigned to an artist whose work combines sustainable processes and symbolically recalls the complexity of the marine ecosystem.

Tosetti Value Award for photography

Tosetti Value – Il Family office continues its support of Artissima promoting for the second year in a row an award for photography, based on the desire to investigate the relationship between art and economics and to widen the perspective on the real world.

Carol Rama Award by Fondazione Sardi per l’Arte

Promoted by Fondazione Sardi per l’Arte and now at its second edition, the prize will be assigned to the artist who embodies, through research and work, the ideal of unconventional female creativity and artistic freedom Carol enacted and transmitted with her works and personality.

VANNI #artistroom Prize

The prize, supported by VANNI occhiali, continues its exploration of the possible contaminations between contemporary art and eyewear design. It will be assigned to the artist under 35 whose artistic research can offer an original perspective on reality, opening an unexpected, surprising viewpoint, as through the action of a lens.

Xiaomi HyperCharge Award (new!)

Promoted by Xiaomi, world leader in technology, it is an acknowledgement for an artist under 35 whose research best communicates the charge that innovation and culture can bring to contemporary society and it narrates how art can be the first step for restarting a process of transformation.

OGR Award

Now in its fourth edition, the prize promoted by Fondazione per l’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea CRT  will be assigned in February 2022 to one of the participant of the Surfing NFT project. The project, developed in collaboration with Artshell and LCA Studio Legale, will be launched at the fair where an international jury will choose 5 artists participating in Artissima and invite them to produce digital works registered with NFT and uploaded to blockchain. Among the 5 works, one will be selected as the winner and will be acquired by Fondazione per l’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea CRT for its collection.

Ettore and Ines Fico Prize

The prize, promoted by MEF Museo Ettore Fico of Torino and now at its 11th iteration, has been updated and chooses to continue promoting and supporting the work of young artists through an acquisition. The winner will be selected among the artists showing their works at Artissima who stood out thanks to their international research and poetics.

“ad occhi chiusi…” Prize by Fondazione Merz (new!)

Derived from the collaboration between Artissima and Fondazione Merz, the prize is inserted in the research activities of the Foundation on young Mediterranean art and it will offer to an international artist, selected among the participants of the 2021 edition of the fair, the opportunity to take part into a residency in Sicily. The research conducted during the residency period will be presented in the programming of ZACentrale at Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa in Palermo.

Marval Collection New Entries Support (new!)

The project born in collaboration with Marval Collection calls for the activation of an acquisition fund set aside for galleries taking part in the “New Entries” section – open for less then five years and at the fair for the first time – along with those that have participated in the section in 2020 and 2019, and are now on hand for Artissima 2021.
