Launched during the last edition of the fair, the METAmorphosis project is the result of dialogue between Artissima and Fondazione per l’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea CRT, in synergy with the OGR Award and in collaboration with the technical partners Artshell, LCA Studio Legale e REVIBE – Metaverse Experience Factory.
The aim of the project is to reflect on the relationship between art, technology and innovation by investigating the complex phenomenon of the Metaverse, highlighting its potential and limitations and proposing a critical, formative and educational vision for art world professionals (galleries and artists) and the public of enthusiasts.
The 4 participating artists were selected at Artissima 2022: Marco Lutyens – Alberta Pane, Paris, Venice / Eva & Franco Mattes – Apalazzogallery, Brescia / Rebeca Romero – Copperfield, London / R M – Martina Simeti, Milan.

The artists were invited to work on the project idea of a physical work and its digital alter-ego in the Metaverse.

An international jury composed of Amira Gad, Lars Henrik Gass, Samuele Piazza and Domenico Quaranta have selected the winner of the OGR Award – Rebeca Romero – who presented her physical and virtual work Semilla SAGRADA on 17 May 2023 at OGR Torino in the Duomo and on Spatial in the Metaverse. The work was acquired by Fondazione per l’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea CRT becoming part of its Collection, and remaining on loan to OGR Torino in its physical and digital versions.
