Frenetic Standstill is the title of the physical exhibitions of Artissima Unplugged (open until February 12, 2021) hosted in the museums of Fondazione Torino Musei (GAM – Galleria Civica d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Palazzo Madama – Museo Civico d’Arte Antica, and MAO Museo d’Arte Orientale).
MAO puts a selection of 10 “orientalist” works into dialogue with the museum’s collections, therefore inserted in the visit itinerary. Viewers will be involved in a special treasure hunt through the historic building that now contains the museum. The contrast between past and present leads to reflections on the way contemporary art formulates a response to a varied history of formal, spiritual and artisanal factors. The exhibition reveals the in-depth research conducted by a number of galleries, to discover the developments of contemporary art in the East.
If you were not able to live viewing the shows, catch a preview of the remarkable installations and take a virtual approach to the artworks thanks to our special Virtual Tour. Click on the tags to discover in-depth commentary on every work, as in a guided tour.
