MADE IN stems from the desire to create a dialogue between contemporary art and the flourishing business community of Turin, enhancing the territory in which the fair was born and has grown, with which it constantly activates synergic relations that reflect the particular characteristics of the region, adding to Turin’s renown all over the world.
The project organized by Artissima with the support of the Camera di commercio di Torino has been developed in partnership with Carioca, Mattioli, Pattern Group and Prima Industrie, with the coordination of Sonia Belfiore, founder of Ultravioletto Arte + Impresa.
Starting from the idea that corporate know-how and specialized production processes can represent a resource for the creation of works of art by artists, MADE IN is configured as an academy for 4 young talents that allows them to live inside companies, to absorb and incorporate the technological and operative capabilities with which they come into contact within their own research. During the residency, the artists will also interact with 4 prestigious Turin-based galleries from the Artissima circuit, which will monitor the works in a role of “project godmothers”, offering the artists a chance to come to terms with entrepreneurial factors in the world of art as well.
The artists selected to take part in the project are: Mara Callegaro (matched with Carioca – patron gallery: Norma Mangione), Daniele Di Girolamo (matched with Pattern – patron gallery: Franco Noero), Andrea Di Lorenzo (matched with Prima Industrie – patron gallery: Peola Simondi), Nicola Ghirardelli (matched with Mattioli – patron gallery: Mazzoleni).

The four winners have been chosen and matched with the respective companies as a result of in-depth analysis conducted by the Committee of MADE IN chaired by Artissima in the person of the director Luigi Fassi and composed of four patron galleries – Norma Mangione, Turin; Mazzoleni, Turin, London; Franco Noero, Turin; Peola Simondi, Turin – and by Sonia Belfiore, curator of the project.
The four artists will be the protagonists of a residency taking place within the partner companies and with the aim of producing an original work of art as the result of contamination between different worlds. During their stay they will live the spaces and the atmosphere of Combo, innovative hospitality format always in dialogue with Artissima.
