Public days: 3 - 5 November 2023

Hub Middle East,  a new project  in collaboration with Fondazione Torino Musei, set out to offer an overview of galleries, institutions and artists active in a geographical area of central importance for developments in contemporary society. The project has been developed thanks to the consulting of Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath, founders of the curatorial platform Art Reoriented based in Munich and New York, and curators of the Pavilion of the United Arab Emirates at the Venice Biennale in 2019.

During the fair, important representatives of foundations, museums and galleries, as well as collectors, critics, curators, and artists of the Middle East visited Turin and offered a view of the most interesting contemporary developments in a territory that in its diversities embodies a sophisticated connection both to ancient cultural traditions and to innovation.

The initiative has also taken the form of a cycle of talks that analysed the Middle Eastern art scene, offering the viewpoints of collectors and patrons of the region’s art scene, with the aim of reinforcing the synergy with the City of Turin, which for some years has hosted the Turin Islamic Economic Forum* (TIEF).

*(TIEF is a project organised by the City of Turin, Camera di commercio di Torino, Università degli Studi di Torino and ASSAIF – Associazione per lo Sviluppo di Strumenti Alternativi e di Innovazione Finanziaria – to promote effective initiatives on Islamic finance for social inclusion and economic development of the territory. The 2019 edition took place on 28, 29, 30 October).
