New developments for the year 2000 included the change of the name from “Fair of Modern and Contemporary Art” to “Contemporary Art in Torino”, reflecting a more specific and selective orientation, consistent with the identity of the city and its relationship with contemporary culture.
For the first time, the day prior to the opening of the fair was set aside for a special preview involving a selected group of entrepreneurs, institutional figures and worldwide collectors. With the consulting of Isabela Mora, a “Special Collectors’ Programme” was created.
The number of foreign galleries surpassed that of the Italian galleries for the first time. The fair also welcomed its first Chinese gallery, from Shanghai, and the guest country initiative was repeated, this time with France.
