Artissima changed its location to Palazzo Nervi.

The 1999 edition put the accent on experimentation and the avant-garde. The hours were shifted towards the evening (until 23:00 on Thursday and Friday, and until 21:00 during the weekend); the “Spazio Incontri” was set up with a stage to present performances by young emerging artists indicated by GAM and Castello di Rivoli. On the evening of Friday 8 October two up-and-coming DJs from Berlin, Marcus Liesenfeld and Holger Beier (“Le Hammond Inferno”), offered visitors a mix of music, sounds and noises combined with visual effects (in collaboration with Musica ’90).

The Primo Liceo Artistico (art high school) of Torino as invited to show projects by its students at the fair, and the “Progetto Teatro & Altro” of the municipality was created, involving disabled young people in the production of creative works for the first time on the national art fair scene.

We should also mention that in 1999 the first Collectors’ Programme was organised: in collaboration with institutions based in Torino, private tours were offered to all the exhibitors and guests of ARTissima, at the GAM and Castello di Rivoli.
