For ARTissima 11 the slogan was “Looking for something new”. It was also used for the next edition of the fair.
This year there were many new features.
For the first time, the exhibitors included a gallery from Lithuania.
The “Constellations” section made its debut, with large museum-grade works hosted in separate areas of the fair.
Mariuccia Casadio of Vogue Italia produced “Art Lovers”, a series of interviews with major international collectors visiting the fair.
And last but not least, ARTissima became a public fair, the only one of its kind on the national art fair scene. After ten privately produced editions, the fair’s brand shifted to the local administration, with the management assigned to Fondazione Torino Musei.
“A strong, international fair of high quality, in tune with the cultural policies of the institutions operating in the territory, can promote and reinforce the local market, contributing to the growth of private collecting, encouraging the acquisition of works or new exhibitions by art institutions, while offering the public an event of great appeal. This represents an exponential increase of the city’s potential of communication and hospitality. Hence the decision […] to acquire the Artissima brand, that of an internationally renowned fair […] that has been able to concentrate the attention of exhibitors, audience, sector professionals and the press from all over the world on Torino” (Giampiero Leo, Councillor for Culture of the Piedmont Region, Valter Giuliano, Councillor for Culture of the Province of Torino, and Fiorenzo Alfieri, Councillor for Cultural Resources and Development of the City of Torino, in the ARTissima catalogue).
