Artissima, in collaboration with Città di Torino, presents Raised in the Dust, a video project by artist Andro Eradze (Georgia, 1993), on view from Tuesday, October 29 to Monday, November 4, 2024, at the former Zoo of Torino – Parco Michelotti, in collaboration with SpazioA gallery.

The film, produced in 2022, is inspired by the conclusion of the classic Georgian poem The Snake Eater (1901) by Vazha-Pshavela. The poem’s protagonist has a supernatural talent for understanding the language of nature but must ultimately choose between his connection to nature and his social responsibilities, choosing the latter. Eradze’s film takes place in a forest where taxidermized animals appear one after another, disturbed by the noise of New Year’s Eve fireworks. Through a poignant critique of human actions that are in these cases toxic and fatal to wildlife, the film reframes the fireworks as a portal into the dark, mythological realm of the forest, a world populated by plants, animals and ghosts.
