KAZUKO MIYAMOTO’S PRACTICE: AMONG PUBLICATIONS, EXHIBITIONS, AND PERFORMATIVE EVENTS

Description

Madre – Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Donnaregina in Naples – and MAO Museo d’Arte Orientale in Turin together for a focus on Kazuko Miyamoto. Starting with the exhibition curated by Eva Fabbris and the events that MAO was invited to conceive for the galleries of the Neapolitan museum, the initiative delves deep into the artist’s practices together with co-curators Luca Cerizza and Zasha Colah and the graphic designer Francesca Pellicciari of the forthcoming volume.

The meeting is opened by Massimo Broccio, President of Fondazione Torino Musei and Angela Tecce, President of Fondazione Donnaregina per le arti contemporanee. The meeting is introduced by Angela Tecce; speakers include Luca Cerizza, Zasha Colah, Eva Fabbris, Francesca Pellicciari and Davide Quadrio. Since the early 1970s, Miyamoto has been bridging two continents and two cultures, forging connection between their profound instances, contributing to and contravening modernist language. She has been promoter of activist and exhibition contexts that were pioneering in New York, to stretch the boundaries of representation for women and non-Westerns.

Among the authors: Elise Armani, Luca Cerizza, Zasha Colah, Eva Fabbris, Davide Quadrio and Yuko Hasegawa, Reiko Tomii.
